How many pages can I make word count on with the demo?

You can run free word count for 10 pages without registration and 1000 pages if you register.

How can I do word count if there is login / authentication session?

If the site uses HTTP Basic Authentication, the username/password can be set in Easyling, and it will log in automatically. If the site uses another authentication method, the session cookies may be passed along, and Easyling will use these to authenticate itself (although these are not stored between scans for privacy reasons!)

How can I select / exclude pages from word count?

Under the Discovery/Pages menu you can set exclusion patterns. Word count will ignore pages that matches with any of the listed patterns.

Does Easyling discover all the pages?

Easyling discovers the entire website as if it was a visitor, fetching all the dynamic content as well. However there might be a need to ignore some content multiplicator attributes (like colors, sizes can multiply the entries of a product catalog). In this case you can tell Easyling what expressions, attributes shell be ignored to avoid count the words with the same content multiple times with the different color names in the expression.

Does word count include meta tags and other hidden elements?

Yes, since meta-tags are very important for SEO consideration.

How does Easyling handle javascript and ajax generated content?

Easyling can translate JavaScript variables that are properly named in the code, although this requires knowledge of the language and the code in question. Otherwise, content that is not transmitted with the source code of the page will not be detected and translated.

How can I select / exlude pages from the word count?

Pages can be excluded in the Pages list, either by selecting pages manually, or by specifying entries for path prefixes to be excluded, or included (at the expense of everything else).

Does word count include images, PDFs or other resource files?

No, resources are not included in the word count. By their very nature, they can only be replaced in their entirety.

What is considered as a repetition?

• 102%: Strong contextual matches: every segment in the block level element (~paragraph) is a 101% match, where all the tags are identical.
• 101%: Contextual matches: both tags in the segment, and contexts (segments immediately before and after) match.
• 100%: Regular matches: the segment is repeated exactly, including all tags.
• 99%: Strong fuzzy matches: tags from the ends are stripped out, words lowercased, numbers ignored.
• 98%: Weak fuzzy matches: all tags are stripped out (may have to be adjusted manually afterwards!), words lowercased, numbers ignored

Does word count works with e-commerce and dynamic websites?

Yes, but it require more attention and more detailed previous examination about what pages need to be counted, what are the URL params need to be ignored, what content multiplicators (color, size) should be handled.

How long and how much does the word count take?

Each discovered page costs €0.001 / $0.0014, and takes, on average, one second to assess. Speed may be influenced by the target server’s settings and capabilities.
